Butterfly valves

In cryogenic lines, triple eccentric high-performance butterfly valves are used. Under demanding conditions, a triple eccentric butterfly valve functions better than simpler butterfly valves. In large size classes, a butterfly valve is lighter than other valve types. A butterfly valve may be of the top-entry type, in which case the butterfly valve is installed into the pipe by welding, but there is a hatch on its top to ensure maintenance-friendliness. Fluicon, a subsidiary of the Italian valve manufacturer OMB, manufactures metal seated triple offset butterfly valves suitable for cryogenic conditions. The valves are suitable for control and shut-off purposes and available with wafer, lugged or welded ends.
